The Malignant Ginger

I'm Jojogingerhead, a 31 year old artist & musician based in Brighton (UK) satirically documenting the highs and lows of my secondary triple negative breast cancer diagnosis. Trying to see the light in a dark and scary situation without using the words fight, battle, journey or survivor.

View from the radiotherapy waiting room.

Well it’s New Years eve and I’m about to go to hospital for todays radiotherapy session. That’s something I never thought I would say (I find myself writing that phrase A LOT at the moment).

When I get back from the hospital, I’m going to put on my best party dress and new wig bought especially for the occasion and go drink my body weight in wine down my local pub. I just want to forget that I’m a cancer patient for the evening. Hell, I might even kiss a boy at midnight. Or a girl. Or the table. I just don’t want to waste precious partying times on worrying.

So I wish good riddance to 2014, you can piss right off to where you came from! I’ve lost a lot this year; part of my boob, lymph nodes, my hair, my toenails and my dignity. But I’ve also gained a lot too; a huge amount of love and support from old friends, new friends from all over the country (big up YBCN ladies), a newfound wisdom and the ability to cope with a cancershitstorm that I thought would finish me off. I’m a very different person coming out of 2014 than I was going in but I have never felt so strong, loved and lucky to be here.

I welcome 2015 with open arms whatever it might bring. Some real hair? A hot man? Ten hot naked men covered in raw coconut oil? A trolly full of sphynx cats? I’m definitely starting my own music again and getting back into my creative projects. Happy new year Facebook friends, thank you so much for the many kind words and support you have shown me this year.

Did you kiss any human or non-human objects?!
